Dolphin House delivers an outdoor learning programme for upper primary pupils. All outdoor learning activities offered provide a framework for addressing the four capacities within a Curriculum for Excellence.

Outdoor Learning at The Dolphin House Aims To:

  • support schools develop experiences and outcomes
  • promote the concept of sustainability
  • foster awareness, understanding and respect for the natural environment
  • develop personal skills and positive attitudes through co-operative learning
  • stimulate approaches to healthy living
  • provide opportunities for physical activity in an outdoor setting

We Will Do This By:

  1. providing the opportunity of an outdoor, environmental, residential experience for all upper primary school pupils in South Ayrshire, in one of the most beautiful settings in the west of Scotland.
  2. supporting the curriculum within our nine secondary schools by offering appropriate 'fieldwork' courses on a residential or day basis.
  3. providing opportunities for community groups within South Ayrshire to develop their 'lifelong learning' strategy on a residential basis.
  4. supporting voluntary youth groups in South Ayrshire with the delivery of their aims and objectives.
