Meet the Team
Thriving Communities
Dolphin House is Thriving Communities Service which includes a wide range of teams who support schools and communities across South Ayrshire.
Administration
Our admin Karen & Tegan are happy to help and can be contacted via dolphinhouse@south-ayrshire.gov.uk for any enquires or questions you may have.
Instructors
Our instructional team is made up of qualified and experienced outdoor instructors, assistants, and modern apprentices who ensure the safety of all visiting clients and adhere to the conditions of South Ayrshire Council’s Adventure Activities License.
Facilities
Our catering team, Marion & Karen, provide freshly made delicious and nutritious food three times a day. There is also a small supper provided before bedtime. We can accommodate any reasonable dietary wishes or requirements. Our facilities team, Amy & Gillian ensure that you will find our accommodation comfortable, clean and welcoming. Geordie our store man, and Sinclair our facilities assistant, ensure our equipment and grounds are maintained to a high standard

What is the best part of your job?
My favourite part of my job is that no two days are the same. I get to work with lots of different people. Helping them to learn and appreciate the outdoors. It is great to see how positively people respond to being outdoors, overcoming fears and making life long memories.
What is your favourite activity at Dolphin House?
Rock pooling – using the unique setting of Culzean and letting people explore a great environment with very few barriers.

What is the best part of your job?
No two days are ever the same. I’m always working with different groups, ages and backgrounds. The opportunity to instruct in various adventurous activities and take young people out of their comfort zone.
What is your favourite activity at Dolphin House?
My favourite activity is stand up paddle boarding, I enjoy introducing young people to this during the summer months.

What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is being able to have a positive impact on the young people who visit us. It’s amazing to see the growth and development that come from outdoor education experiences.
What is your favourite activity at Dolphin House?
It’s so hard to choose just one! I love the coasteering, from the benefits of cold water immersion to the fun of splashing and jumping into waves, it’s a great session.

What is the best part of your job?
The best part is getting to watch young people develop, achieve and overcome fears, all while getting to call the outdoor environment my ‘office’.
What is your favourite activity at Dolphin House?
My favourite activity has to be caving. I find the rich history of the caves fascinating and love exploring the somewhat alien environment.

What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job is being able to provide a fun approach to outdoor learning for young people. I also love the variety of activities we have – one day I could be walking up a hill, and the next I could be putting on a wetsuit. It’s a great place to work!
What is your favourite activity at Dolphin House?
Coasteering! I love jumping into the water, swimming along the coast and getting to see the sea life and my mate Sammy the Seal.

What is the best part of your job?
I like the variety of people that I meet in this job, from the young people in the schools to the variety of adult groups we take out, it’s interesting meeting people from all walks of life.
What is your favourite activity at Dolphin House?
I like the hillwalking because love getting out into the hills in all weathers and I love the challenge of getting to the top of the hill and back and helping young people to achieve this too.

The best part of my job is getting to be outside every day and exploring the local area while introducing it to people from all walks of life.
What is your favourite activity at Dolphin House?
My favourite activity is mountain biking. It introduces people to a different way of getting around and shows them a side to the environment they may not have seen.

What is the best part of your job?
I feel very lucky to have been a Modern Apprentice at Dolphin House getting to learn from such an experienced team. It’s a very positive environment to be in.
What is your favourite activity at Dolphin House?
I love the archery sessions, as my own favourite activity I love being able to share this with the young people that come to us.

What is the best part of your job?
I enjoy developing new, exciting opportunities to give local people the chance to visit Dolphin House and take part in outdoor programmes which help them develop skills for life and make amazing memories.
What is your favourite activity at Dolphin House?
I love all of the outdoor activities the team offer. I like to explore new places and really enjoy working with groups to complete the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award expedition, this teaches young people about overcoming challenges and helps build resilience and teamwork.

What is the best part of your job?
The best part of my job has to be the view. It’s incredible to come to work every day and be on the beach front with the view to Arran, and no two days look the same.
What is your favourite activity at Dolphin House?
My favourite activity is the paddleboarding. It’s so much fun getting to splash about.

What is the best part of your job?
I’ve worked at Dolphin House for over 20 years and have been here since opening. I like the scenery of where I work as it is a lovely place to work. I enjoy helping all of the team and the people who visit every day.
What is your favourite activity at Dolphin House?
My favourite thing has to be keeping everything tidy and smart for the groups who come here. I enjoy seeing the Country Park change over the seasons and love the summer sunshine when I’m always working outdoors.

I love the variety in my job, although I’m in the kitchen every day it always feels different due to the mix of groups we get. I love interacting with the different people from different places, and it keeps it interesting catering to different needs.

My favourite activity is definitely the archery – I loved it!

The best part of my job has to be the satisfaction of seeing the children’s smiling faces when they’ve had a tasty meal after a big day of adventures.

My favourite activity is the coasteering, it looks so much fun playing in the sea!

What is the best part of your job?
Dolphin House is an amazing place to work. We have a fabulous team which I love being a part of. I enjoy providing admin support to my colleagues, working together to ensure our visitors have a wonderful experience when they visit us.
What is your favourite activity at Dolphin House?
I enjoy the rock pooling. I find it fascinating seeing all the marine life in their natural habitat.
