| Goals of the project |
The
Dolphin House aims to:
- support schools in their 5 - 14 curriculum
- promote the concept of sustainability
- foster awareness, understanding and respect for the natural
environment
- develop personal skills and positive attitudes through co-operative
learning
- stimulate approaches to healthy living
- provide opportunities for physical challenge
It will do this by:
- providing the opportunity of an outdoor, environmental, residential
experience for all upper primary school pupils in South Ayrshire,
in one of the most beautiful settings in the west of Scotland.
- supporting the curriculum within our nine secondary schools
by offering appropriate 'fieldwork' courses on a residential or
day basis.
- providing opportunities for community groups within South Ayrshire
to develop their 'lifelong learning' strategy on a residential
basis.
- supporting voluntary youth groups in South Ayrshire with the
delivery of their aims and objectives, in particular the Scouting
Movement in Ayrshire and the Duke of Edinburgh's Award in South
Ayrshire who are both full partners in the usage of the facility.
Forward Plan
- To develop an outdoor science laboratory to monitor the environment
- pollution and weather
- To create a social area by building an extension to the bunkhouse.
- To introduce energy studies by providing easy assembly kits
for generating electricity from the wind, sun and waves.
- To support a healthy eating regime by introducing and discussing
healthy food
