An Outdoor Education Base at Culzean Country Park

As a result of the break-up of Strathclyde Region in 1996 there is no longer any direct provision of Outdoor Education within South Ayrshire. However both Outdoor Education and residential experience are regarded as valuable elements of the curriculum and the personal and social development of young people.

Dolphin House Statistics

The capacity at the Dolphin House is currently The Dolphin House

  • 32 pupils within 7 small dormitories
  • 3 staff bedrooms

Up to 26 pupils can also be accommodated in the Cedar Wood Lodge with a further 6 on the ground floor of the Dolphin House.

The main meeting room in the Dolphin House acts as both a lecture room and dining room, being adjacent to the kitchen. Facilities on site include a Souvenir/Tuck shop, drying rooms, male/female showers, staff room and outdoor store with meeting area.

The Dolphin House has a Principal and two instructors along with a housekeeper, cleaner and part-time administrator. The Dolphin House also has its own transport in the form of minibuses, as most courses will operate for part of the time outside Culzean Country Park. All facilities are wheelchair friendly. We have also been gifted a specialist wheelchair for the beach.
